  • Do I need dance experience?
NO! We welcome all dance abilities – from “I’ve never danced in my life” to “I’ve done Broadway shows” – and are happy to dance with anyone and everyone. We make our routines simple and accessible for all dance abilities and incorporate modifications based on each individual’s needs. Our main goal is to have fun!!!
  • How do I register for a class?
Feel free to book online using our new system on our website.
  • How much do classes cost / how do I pay?
We ask each participant to pay $35 (nonrefundable) at the beginning of each month, which covers unlimited classes for that month. Payment can be made online when you sign up for a membership or in person with cash. However, if any mama is experiencing hardship, please contact Eurae and we will make arrangements for you. We don’t want cost to be a barrier for moms, and want as many people as possible to join us. All our teachers are volunteers and are not paid for their time teaching and preparing choreography, so all payments go towards rental fees for the studios and other necessary costs (e.g., performance rental space, etc.).
  • Can I try a class out a class before I pay?
Yes, absolutely. The first class is free for any newcomers who want to try us out.
  • I’m not a mom – can I join?
While we are extremely happy that you want to join us, unfortunately at the moment we are restricting ourselves to moms only. We are mindful of the nurturing and safe space for moms that we have cultivated and want to do all we can to preserve and foster it. However, we may have workshops in the future where you can come dance with us, and we would definitely love to have you attend our shows!! We are also always looking for help in areas such as photography, videography, social media, etc. (pro bono at the moment), so if you feel called to share your skills with us, we would very much appreciate it!
  • I don’t have childcare – can I bring my kids?
The short answer – yes! Some of our moms bring their children who sit in select spaces in the classroom or in a separate room while we have class. At this time, we do not have sitters at our locations though, so children should be of an age where they can be left alone or can entertain themselves. Also, if you are in need of childcare, please let us know and we will try to help. We have very limited childcare available, but will do our best to support you when we can. Eurae will reach out to those needing childcare to make arrangements.
  • Can kids join in the classes?
While we love our little ones and their enthusiasm for dance, we want to keep dance classes for moms only so that we can all dance without too many distractions. 😊 Kids who can be left alone on the side of the classroom or in another room are welcome to come though!
  • I would love to dance but I have injuries/medical issues. Can I still come?
Absolutely. We are happy to modify any dance moves you need us to, or even create a whole new option for you to do that works with your body.
  • What should I wear?
Per studio policy, no outdoor shoes should be worn in the studio. Please bring either a clean pair of shoes to change into when you arrive, or you are also welcome to dance with bare feet or socks! This is to ensure that no outside dirt is brought into the studio. Wear clothing that is comfortable to dance and move in. No need to go out and buy new stuff!
  • Does MOM-entum do anything else besides dance?
In addition to dancing together, we are a community. We host social events (e.g., movie night, spa day) or plan to go to different local events together. We are also looking to volunteer in the community and perform at schools or retirement homes. There are MOM-entum-hosted events such as our ‘One Year Birthday Celebration’ and ‘Meet and Greets.’ The main goal for this group is to build a safe and supportive community.
  • Where do MOM-entum members perform?
We have an annual showcase where all the routines we have been working on are performed. We are still new, so we recently had our inaugural showcase and are hard at work on the second. We also performed at the Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade last year, where we walked in the parade and did dance routines. We also have genre-specific performances when those opportunities come up – for instance, our Bollywood Fusion mamas performed in a Diwali Festival last year and are preparing to perform again this year. Interested members of Bollywood Fusion are also gearing up to compete in a competition next year (KAGW Talent Time).
  • Do I have to perform if I join?
No, absolutely not!! You are welcome to just come and move your body with us, and there is no pressure to perform anywhere. Honestly, you don’t even have to dance – you are welcome to just come and sit on the side while we dance if that makes you happy. 😊
  • I'm not much of a dancer, but I still want to be a part of this.
Our volunteers are our life force – we appreciate any and all help you can give. We have had volunteers donate their skills (e.g., photography, videography, social media, baked goods), which has been very helpful. We also need volunteers who can assist with our performances (e.g., tech support, stage manager, etc.) or with our day-to-day administrative functions (e.g., fundraising). Send an email to momentumdancetroupe@gmail.com and we will get back to you. You can also send us a message on our Facebook page (link).
