Amy Wesa
Amy is a single mom to an amazing and talented teen daughter, and works in biotech developing therapies for cancer. Originally from Michigan, she has made Maryland her home for over 10 years. On any night of the week, you might find her on the dance floor at a salsa/bachata social. If she’s not dancing, working or chauffeuring, she enjoys reading, creating meals with things grown in her garden, and wine-tasting, in addition to traveling with loved ones.
My Story
Amy has a life-long passion for music, dance and performance. She grew up taking lessons in ballet and jazz, which later evolved into a love of dancing at clubs, (then Jazzercize and Zumba) until she encountered the Latin dance scene. Her primary dance training beyond the social dance floor includes salsa, bachata, and kizomba. Past teaching experience includes absolute beginner’s salsa class for leads and follows. She joined MOM-entum in May of 2023, and began teaching bachata in 2024.
Amy dances with MOM-entum for all the wonderful self-care attributes (physical and cognitive exercise, mood enhancement, self-expression, and creativity) and for the added bonus of social and communal support of other moms! She hopes to create a warm, welcoming environment to share this experience with other moms of any level of experience who want to learn bachata.
